For 50 years the Mental Health Association of New York City (MHA-NYC) has been unwavering in its belief that everyone can achieve emotional wellness with the right care and support.
Unfortunately, silence and shame keep too many people from getting the help they need.
This year’s Gala — “Just Talk About It: Stories of Recovery and Success” — shattered the silence that surrounds mental illness and raised funds to support care and treatment for those who need it most.
We are proud to be honoring NY Giants Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall and his wife, Michi, Co-Founders of PROJECT 375, and ardent mental health advocates since Brandon’s diagnosis with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2010. We also thank the Zirinsky family, founders of Gracie-Square Hospital. None of this would be possible without all of the unrivaled supporters of MHA-NYC and its work for three generations and five decades. We are also delighted to be honoring the First Lady of New York City, Chirlane McCray, for her extraordinary vision and commitment to revolutionizing mental health care for all.
With their help – and yours – we will keep fighting until we can all talk about our mental health the same way we do about our physical health: with compassion instead of shame and, most of all, with hope.
Co-Anchor of WABC’s “Eyewitness News,” and Correspondent for ABC News’s “20/20” hosted/emceed the awards gala.
