The China Institute had its glamorous gala on September 5th at the legendary and always exclusive ballroom of the
Plaza Hotel
The magical night was embellished by the glamour that attendees brought to this special evening. The weather was perfect, and guests were happy to be there at such a beautiful venue. The China Institute has a reputation for being the largest organization helping the Asian community for almost a hundred years, not to mention the most prestigious one. Its programs are designed to empower people and help them to have better opportunities and therefore a much better life. Since the Institute opened its doors millions of individuals have been helped by its establishing a simple mission; help local communities in every single way possible. The special celebration started with a cocktail reception featuring an open bar and passing finger food followed by the program which was hosted by
Di Cai
(https://www.facebook.com/di.cai.167) who was the emcee for the evening. She is a partner at Sanders Capital, and responsible for China-related investments at the $96 billion Global Found. Miss Cai is not a stranger to the stage since she was a stand-up comedian and TV host at Tianjin TV Network which is China's fourth largest network. She was also awarded with The Women's Gala Rising Star. Di presented the award for 2024, to those awardees who contributed to the community not only financially, but also with tools and opportunities for New Yorkers who needed open doors to change their lives positively.

During dinner's main course, a special award presentation took place honoring Huang Ping Consul General of China in New York (https://global.upenn.edu/global-initiatives/news/visit-ambassador-huang-ping-consul-general-chinas-consulate-general-new). He announced that he was going back to China after the end of his term as Ambassador to the USA http://newyork.china-consulate.gov.cn/eng/lgxx/zlsxx_3/.
The next Blue Cloud Award presentation was to
Ronald Diamond
who is Vice Chairman of the Board, Conair LLC and CEO, of Cuisinart Outdoor (https://www.hfndigital.com/industry-news/conair-names-new-president-ceo/). He happens to be one of the first businessmen to create business relations in China and trust it with his company investments.
The presence of
Yue-Sai Kan-the Oprah of China- (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yue-Sai_Kan) brought some fun to the evening, sharing her stories about how she became a successful businesswoman in China. She is a TV personality, entrepreneur, Bestselling Author, and director of Miss China Universe.
The live auction took place before the desert. Patrick Tully was the auctioneer for the evening bringing good energy and fun. The items were mainly exciting trips to Japan and Tibet, food and wine packages, fine jewelry, and the most fun of all One Week Stay at a Private Apartment at The Plaza Residents. The amazing gala came to an end around 11 pm, everyone got a cute gift bag with a panda keychain, and a detangle hair brush.
