Cocktails for a Cause
from
Education Through Music
took place on
October 22nd at the Haworth Showroom in Midtown Manhattan. This casual get-together gathered enthusiastic young professionals who are involved
with Education Through Music, a non-profit organization that introduced young kids to music, which is a form of art that enriches human lives and feeds their souls. Kids from elementary school to junior high are affected by the lack of financial resources blocking them from learning music as part of their education. ETM comes to help those kids by giving them the opportunity to get in touch with music and learn to play musical instruments to wide open their horizons as music has the power to increased learning skills
especially in youngsters. This charming soiree was powered up by young professionals whom were introduced to the arts one way or another in their younger age. The cocktail reception featured Hour d'horus, cocktails, background
music and live music by Liz Chidester, who delighted us with her wonderful voice.
Co-Chair Heidi Stamas, gave the welcome remarks thanking all attendees for being there supporting ETM's cause, and encouraging colleagues and friends to be involved with this noble cause. Stamas introduced ETM's Chief Executive Officer Janice Weinman who shared with guests the importance of music in human's lives underlining the critical issue involving young people being initiated into music making a positive, and remarkable impact in their lives as they grow. She presented a special video which showed how kids are happy learning music, opening their eyes to a whole new world that they didn't know existed. Miss Weinman presented two members of Engagement Council and co-chairs Serena Hernandez and Jazmine Francis-Nobrega, who shared with attendees their own experiences being part of ETM, which gave them a different perspective of life.
This fundraiser event was created to encourage young professionals to be involved in young people's dream to become musicians and have the ability to play musical
instruments perhaps leaning to a professional career or as a “on-the-side-job”.
We all have our ways to relax from listen to music to watching a movie, or perhaps reading a book. Someone
composed the musical piece someone film that movie someone acted in that
movie. You never know what life may bring, what is certain is music always has
been there for us, and it is important in our lives that it is also important to help
those who want to create music for everyone.
